A RESTAURANT on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile has changed hands after almost three decades under the same ownership.
Basement eatery Dubh Prais was sold by The Restaurant Agency on behalf of James and Heather McWilliam, who opened the restaurant in 1988.
Experienced operators Richard Hewat and Saltire Restaurants took over the business at the start of this year’s Edinburgh Festival and are said to have run it “very much ‘as usual’ with a few added personal touches both inside and to the menu”.
Alan Goldie, director at The Restaurant Agency, said: “Our clients James and Heather McWilliam are delighted to be able to start their well-earned retirement after nearly 30 years at Dubh Prais on the Royal Mile.”
The leasehold was sold at a closing date for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of offers over £40,000.
