SPEYSIDE single malt The Balvenie is moving forward by looking back with a new addition to its core range that pays homage to the distillery’s past.
The Balvenie Peat Week Aged 14 Years (2002 Vintage) has been created using 100% peat-smoked barley and aged exclusively in American oak casks. It is said to be a tribute to a time when peated whiskies were commonly produced by distilleries in Speyside, and the name references the one week every year when The Balvenie uses only peated barley in its production.
Released this month and bottled at 48.3% ABV, the new expression follows the introduction of The Balvenie Peated Triple Cask Aged 14 years, which is exclusive to travel retail.
