Celebrating historic connection

A toast: Ian Gardner of Rosslyn Chapel Trust and Stephen Kemp of Orkney Distilling

ORKNEY Distilling has joined forces with Rosslyn Chapel to produce a new gin to celebrate the Midlothian chapel’s Orkney links.

Rosslyn Chapel’s connection with the archipelago is said to go back to Orkney’s origins, when Sir William St Clair, Third Prince of Orkney, reportedly founded it in 1446.

The gin, which has been named The Prince of Orkney in honour of the link, is described as a smooth spirit with a “sweetness reminiscent of sherbet, lemon and pines”.

Stephen Kemp, director of Orkney Distilling, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to have formed an association with Rosslyn Chapel as there is such a close historic connection to Orkney.”
