EIGHT Scottish brewers have joined forces to launch a new group dedicated to supporting and growing the industry at home and abroad.
The Brewers’ Association of Scotland was launched at an event at the Scottish Parliament on January 22.
Speaking to SLTN at the event Dougal Sharp, chief executive of Innis & Gunn and the association’s inaugural chairman, said the sector is “showing huge growth and there’s huge explosion in interest from drinkers in craft and fuller-flavoured beers”.
“For a long time I’ve thought that one of the most important things we as an industry need to do better is represent ourselves to the consumer and also at a government level,” said Sharp.
As well as Innis & Gunn, the association currently includes Cairngorm Brewery, Fyne Ales, Harviestoun, Inveralmond Brewery, Stewart Brewing, West and Williams Bros. Sharp said that the group is now actively seeking members from across Scotland.
