THERE was cause for celebration at Kincardine’s Unicorn Inn last week when the venue became the 500th tourism business to pick up a Taste Our Best award.
A joint initiative between VisitScotland and the Scottish Government, the Taste Our Best initiative aims to raise the quality of food on offer in Scotland’s hospitality sector while promoting Scottish produce.
Unicorn Inn owners Brian and Michelle Jones received their award at a ceremony attended by Richard Lochhead, cabinet secretary for food.
Brian said he was “overwhelmed and very proud” to receive the award.
“As a small local, family run independent business being recognised by our peers and clientele is an inspiration and an honour,” he said.
“It really does make all our hard work, blood, sweat and tears worthwhile.”
Lochhead said presenting the 500th Taste Our Best award was “a major milestone” for the scheme.
