WEMYSS Malts is launching a new limited edition whisky to complement its blended malts range.
‘Velvet Fig’ contains specially selected single malts that were matured exclusively in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The casks are said to have imbued the malts with flavours of “rich autumn and winter fruits and spices”.
It is the independent bottler’s first blended malt to be non-chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.
The limited release of 6000 bottles is available in specialist spirits stores.
The whisky’s aroma is said to contain notes of sweet mead and leather while its palate is described as “luscious golden sultanas, soft fig and Medjool dates, spiced with nutmeg and ginger”.
