A GLASGOW bartender has picked up a £1000 prize after winning the OVD Discover the Dark Side of Rum cocktail competition.
Julija Bernatovica of the Kelvingrove Café took the top spot after impressing a judging panel, which included SLTN’s Matthew Lynas, with her ‘Wanted Kidd’ serve at the competition’s grand final, held at the Tiki Bar and Kitsch Inn in Glasgow earlier this month.
Second place went to Ben Louthean of host venue the Tiki Bar and Kitsch Inn, while Paul Donegan of Clouds & Soil in Edinburgh was third.
A total of nine bartenders competed in the Scottish final, with each earning their spot by placing in the top three of one of the regional heats held in Glasgow, Edinburgh and at the Glenfiddich Distillery.
Bernatovica said winning the competition was “an amazing surprise”.
“Taking part in the competition has been a great experience and I have enjoyed meeting all of the other bartenders and seeing them in action,” she said.
