SCOTLAND’S public transport and roads network were well-used by the SLTN team over the summer as we travelled the length and breadth of the mainland – and hopped across to some of the islands – judging for this year’s SLTN Awards.
The standard of entries this year was quite possibly the highest since the SLTN Awards began 19 years ago.
And visiting the operators and bar staff who entered or were nominated across the 22 categories was inspirational to say the least.
Not only did it reinforce all that is good about Scotland’s licensed trade, it once again highlighted the enthusiasm and resilience of those who work in it.
In a year in which the trade has faced the prospect of yet more changes to licensing law and the refresher training debacle, not to mention spiralling costs, licensees have continued to raise the bar.
In three weeks’ time the trade’s brightest stars will shine at the SLTN Awards.
It promises to be a spectacular night hosted, once again, by Kevin Bridges, who raised the roof at last year’s event.
Finalists in each of the categories will be revealed in a special preview brochure with the next issue of SLTN (October 30).
And, on November 6, operators of pubs, clubs, hotels and restaurants from across Scotland will rightly enjoy their moment in the spotlight.
