• New role: Mal Spence.

THE owner of blended Scotch whisky brand Black Bottle has appointed renowned bartender and mixologist Mal Spence to the new role of global ambassador.

Spence, SLTN Mixologist of the Year for 2012, has more than 15 years’ experience in the trade.
He will combine his current role at Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Cafe with the Black Bottle job, which will see him visit key markets around the world.
Spence said the opportunity to work with the Burn Stewart-owned whisky was one he “couldn’t say no to”.
Marco Di Ciacca, global marketing manager for Black Bottle, said: “Mal’s approach to creating drinks and all-round knowledge of the on-trade will really help us engage the bartenders around the world who are the gate-keepers to many of these drinkers as we expand in many new markets.”
