BORDERS restaurants got behind the ‘Love Scotch Lamb’ initiative last month in a bid to encourage more consumers to try the meat.
Burts in Melrose, The Auld Cross Keys Inn in Hawick and The Caddy Man in Jedburgh all offered special lamb-focused menus as part of the initiative, which aims to showcase the “versatility and ease of cooking” of Scotch lamb.
Suzie Carlaw of Quality Meat Scotland, one of the groups behind Love Scotch Lamb, said it is a “great way to show people that Scotch lamb is a great choice when dining out”.
“There may be some customers who have never tried Scotch lamb before or have never considered it as an option to order but we want them to give it a go and see just how delicious it tastes,” she said.
