• Deer stalking on the Ballathie Estate is said to be popular with the hotel’s guests.

BALLATHIE Country House Hotel in Perthshire teamed up with Scotland’s venison industry late last month to promote ‘Eat Scottish Venison Day’, in the run up to the nationwide initiative on September 4.

Guests were invited to a lunch at the hotel, at which Ballathie Estate gamekeeper Gordon Clone explained the issues facing the venison industry today including both the importance of deer management and the growth in popularity of venison.
Jody Marshall, hotel manager at Ballathie Country House Hotel, commented: “These are exciting times for Scottish venison with retail sales having quadrupled over the past year.
“Stalking on the Ballathie Estate is popular with our guests and venison is naturally a favourite on our menu.”
