• Reborn: Hutchesons’ Hall in Glasgow.

A HISTORIC building in Glasgow’s Merchant City was due to reopen today (June 12) as a bar and restaurant following a major refurbishment.

The Rusk Company, the firm behind Glasgow steakhouse The Butchershop, has spent the past two years, and £1.3 million, transforming Hutchesons’ Hall into a bar and restaurant, after taking on the lease for the building, which is owned by the National Trust for Scotland.
Hutchesons comprises a bar and bistro on the ground floor, a first-floor restaurant and second-floor private dining space. The A-listed building was built in the early 19th century as a hospital and had been vacant since 2008.
