EDINBURGH’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel has introduced some literary flavour to its Caley Bar with the launch of The Rebus Rob Roy.

The cocktail, named in honour of Scottish author Ian Rankin’s famous detective, was introduced to mark the hotel’s appearance in Rankin novel Saints of the Shadow Bible, released last year.
Rankin was invited to work on the cocktail with Caley Bar manager Michael Nawrot; the drink is a twist on a classic Rob Roy, topped with Innis & Gunn.
Rankin said: “He [Rebus] would want beer and whisky, so we’ve given him the best of both! He’d also want something redolent of Edinburgh – able to warm a body when the weather outside is dreich.
“This is a full-blooded drink, to be sipped slowly, maybe while enjoying a good read.”
General manager Dale MacPhee said The Rebus Rob Roy is a “perfect fit” with the Caley Bar’s cocktail offer.
