THE Scottish Licensed Trade Association (SLTA), and its counterparts from the UK and Ireland, met with representatives from the EU Commission to highlight its support for minimum pricing.
Representatives from the United Kingdom and Irish Licensed Trade Association (UKILTA) travelled to Brussels for the meeting last week.
SLTA secretary Colin Wilkinson said the EU Commission can be in “no doubt that there is a great deal of support from within the Scottish licensed trade” for minimum pricing.
The meeting came as an appeal from the Scotch Whisky Association over the Scottish Government’s plans to introduce a minimum price of 50p a unit was heard at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
