THE trade dug deep at this year’s Ben Dinner to raise around £90,000 for the charity.
More than 960 guests from across Scotland’s licensed trade and drinks industry attended the annual dinner at Glasgow’s Thistle Hotel on February 6 to raise much-needed funds for the Scottish Licensed Trade Benevolent Society.
The event heard from Ben president Des Gallagher, of Matthew Clark, who highlighted the work done by the charity to help those who have fallen on hard times; as well as after-dinner speakers Rod MacCowan and Peter Brown.
Jacqueline Hutcheson won the Fiat 500 car, donated by Matthew Clark, in the prize draw, which raised more than £17,800; the silent auction, which included Ryder Cup tickets donated by Diageo and Commonwealth Games tickets from AG Barr, generated £11,000.
