INDEPENDENT English brewery Bath Ales has released a new range of beers that have been aged in Scotch whisky casks.
The four new Imperial Stouts – Speyside (ABV 10.8%); Islay No. 1 (ABV 11%); Islay No. 2 (ABV 11.1%); and Highland (ABV 11.4%) – have been introduced in time for Christmas.
“The whisky beers will only get better with age and they actually continue to mature in the bottle, so they make an ideal gift for adventurous drinkers,” said brewer Shane O’Beirne.
“In our bid to create something extra special, each bottle is wax sealed by hand and individually numbered, with a limited number available.”
The ales are available from the Bath Ales website (www.bathales.com).
In addition to the whisky-matured ales, the brewery has also introduced the new 9.1% ABV Barleywine beer.
