Morrison to fly flag for Scotland at awards

STEPHEN Morrison of Glasgow restaurant La Vallee Blanche has been named as the only Scottish finalist in this year’s Academy of Food & Wine Service’s (AFWS) UK Restaurant Manager of the Year competition.

The final will take place on October 7 in London’s Westbury Hotel. Finalists will be set a series of tasks said to be designed to test their skills, knowledge and business sense. The final stage of the competition will be a Dragon’s Den-style scenario in which the competitors will pitch a business plan for a pop-up concept to a panel of potential investors.
John Croft, AFWS executive director, said: “We were delighted to have such good quality entrants for this year’s competition. It’s going to be an exciting final.”
The judging panel for this year’s final will be led by last year’s award winner Peter Avis, restaurant manager at Babylon restaurant in London.
