NEW releases and chart toppers remain the most popular choices in pub jukeboxes, according to digital music supplier Soundnet.
The music provider, which supplies tracks to the Sound Leisure range of jukeboxes, found that 80% of songs played on jukeboxes are either new releases or feature in the official UK top 40 singles chart.
Oasis was said to be the most played artist of 2013, but new music also proved popular, with new releases from acts such as Daft Punk, Will.I.Am and Pink topping the individual track chart.
Soundnet advised operators to consistently update their music catalogue to offer customers the best selection of tracks.
“With over 95% of consumer singles in the UK bought online, a jukebox needs to be updated regularly in order to meet the expectations of a knowledgeable audience,” it said.
Soundnet offers an online update service to its clients, which is said to update jukeboxes twice a week through an online connection.
The supplier said the selection available to customers at the jukebox can have a significant impact on revenue.
“Music is the fuel that drives jukebox revenue so deciding on the right supplier will make a real difference to your cashbox,”added Soundnet.
