HIGHLAND bartender Robert Kerr was celebrating last week after battling rivals from across Scotland to take the top prize in a cocktail competition.
The OVD Dark Side of Rum competition saw bartenders compete in regional heats before 11 finalists went head to head in the grand final at Edinburgh venue Cabaret Voltaire.
Robert’s cocktail, Guyana Girl, was awarded the top prize by a panel of judges, which included OVD brand manager Paul Curry, Gerry Mellor of First Drinks, Chris Langan of Barnomadics and SLTN editor Gillian McKenzie. The drink combined OVD rum with Malibu, blackcurrant cordial, pineapple juice, lime and a homemade banana flavoured tobacco and molasses syrup.
“It is incredible to have won,” said Robert, of Dows Bar in Inverness.
