TOM Kitchin is to take part in a new TV search for the UK’s best young culinary talent.

The Edinburgh chef will join Michel Roux Jr and Theo Randall on The Chef’s Protege, which is due to air on BBC2 next month.
In the 20-part series, Tom will return to the catering college he attended to search for a protege of his own by assessing students’ skills and potential. The chef will ultimately choose one protege to go through to the final and cook a meal with him against Theo and Michel and their chosen students.
Tom described the concept of the programme as “hugely inspiring”.
“I found it a tough but rewarding journey, watching this younger generation of chefs learn and grow,” he said.
“I’m always on the lookout for ambitious youngsters who have that little spark in their eye and really want to learn and develop.”
