STAR Pubs & Bars lessees are to be offered a free-of-tie deal on wine and spirits through partnerships with suppliers Vivas and Classic Drinks.
Lessees will have access to on-site training, pub specific stocking recommendations and promotional support as part of the new deal with the two suppliers, along with what Star Pubs & Bars described as “highly competitive prices”.
The agreements with Vivas (a joint venture between Bibendum and 3663) and Classic Drinks (part of Booker) follow similar recent partnerships with Nescafe for coffee and 3663 for food.
Chris Jowsey, trading director at Star Pubs & Bars, said the new partnerships continue the free-of-tie arrangement on wine and spirits which the pubco introduced in 2009.
“This is a market-leading package for the leased sector and is all about helping our lessees build successful long-term sustainable pubs by enabling them to maximise sales and increase profitability,” he said.
“Wine and spirits are a substantial part of a pub’s income and we wanted to link up with suppliers with the expertise, capability and commitment to help our lessees grow their sales.
“The whole idea is to add value for our lessees by offering them deals they could not get themselves. It’s a tough economic environment and the job of a lessee has never been busier.
“If we can save them time and money by narrowing down the vast array of suppliers and doing all the due diligence required to ensure they really are getting a good deal, then that not only gives our lessees peace of mind but frees them up to focus on other areas of their business too.”
