Tae a… whisky-flavoured Orkney fudge

Highland Park’s Pat Retson and Orkney Fudge’s Ewan McDill launch the new product.

LICENSED operators looking for something sweet to round off their Burns Suppers might find inspiration in the Orkney Islands.

Distiller Highland Park, part of The Edrington Group, has teamed up with a local confectionery company to produce a whisky-flavoured fudge.
The joint venture sees the distillery, based in Kirkwall, collaborate with Stromness-based Orkney Fudge.
Wholesaler Palmer and Harvey was recently contracted to distribute the company’s range across the UK.
“The new whisky fudge will certainly be a great addition to the range of flavours we have on offer at the distillery and I am sure it will fly off the shelves nationwide,” said Pat Retson, brand heritage manager at Highland Park.
“We’re delighted with our new partnership with Orkney Fudge and have had some fun developing new tasting experiences with the various flavours, such as stem ginger and chilli, which we found really enhance the tasting of 18 and 25 year old Highland Park.”
The alliance has also seen Orkney Fudge develop a new orange-flavoured fudge exclusively for visitors at the distillery.
The product will be offered to visitors during tastings.
