OPERATORS with gaming machines in their outlets should register for the new Machine Games Duty (MGD) system now.
The BBPA said licensees who miss the January 1 deadline to register for the new regime, which replaces the Amusement Machine Licence Duty and VAT on machine income from February 1, 2013, could face a fine.
“Now is definitely the time to register for MGD, to get it done before the Christmas period – and it’s important to be aware that MGD covers not just AWPs but any machine that pays out a cash prize including skill machines,” said BBPA chief executive Brigid Simmonds.
The BBPA has published guidance for the new regime on its website (www.beerandpub.com) as well as a step-by-step guide to online registration.
