Pupils get food for thought

MORE than 300 high school pupils got a taste of the hospitality industry last month, thanks to an employment charity.
Springboard, which helps young, unemployed and disadvantaged people build careers in hospitality, held a ‘hotel day’ in partnership with Gleneagles and Apex hotels at Larbert High.
The entire third year group from the school in Stenhousemuir took part in the event, which saw them participate in a range of hospitality ‘skills challenges’ designed to give them a taste of a career in the industry.
“By showcasing the industry in this way, we are sending out a positive message to pupils about the diverse range of jobs available and underlining that with the right training and support, they can potentially have a career for life,” said Springboard operations manager Vicki Sutherland.
