Bourbon joins rye resurgence

THE Woodford Reserve bourbon range has been bolstered with the addition of two new rye whiskies.

Tapping into what’s described as a recent renaissance in rye whiskey, Bacardi Brown-Forman Brands (BBFB)has added Reserve New Cask Rye and Aged Cask Rye to its Master’s Collection range.
The new whiskies have been launched in 350ml bottles in a twin-pack, with just 155 cases released.
Each rye whiskey is made using the same recipe from a 100% rye mash, with one matured in fresh, charred oak and the other in a used barrel.
Both whiskies are triple distilled in copper pots and are bottled at 46.2% ABV.
According to BBFB, the new rye whiskies are “perfect for whiskey purists and bartender collectors”.
“Through the Master’s Collection we hope to add depth to the equity of Woodford Reserve, creating a halo effect for the brand, whilst also celebrating our historic legacy of craftsmanship and innovation,” said brand manager Ffion Jones.
“Both whiskies have distinctive flavours and aromas, which are sure to excite any whiskey fan, whilst the contemporary bottles will be a great addition to any back bar.”
