A HOTEL on the northern coast of Scotland has come onto the books of Bruce & Co.

Said to benefit from its “stunning” location, the Melvich Hotel near Thurso overlooks Melvich Bay and the Pentland Firth.
The hotel has been decorated in a neutral style in a bid to reflect the area’s natural beauty and has 12 en suite letting bedrooms, a 40-cover restaurant, lounge bar and a public bar with games room, which is said to be popular with locals.
A 120-cover function room caters for weddings and other events, and there is also a cocktail bar, which is not currently in use but is said to be ripe for conversion into a coffee shop to add a further income stream to the business.
The three-star hotel, which was awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence this year, is said to benefit from the many sporting activities and events in the area, including surfing competitions like the WQS Six Star event and the O’Neill Highland Open, which takes place every April.
Other attractions in the area include mountain bike tracks, fishing, the RSPB Nature Reserve at Forsinard, and a selection of art and craft galleries.
Bruce & Co’s Kaira Massie, who is handling the sale, said: “The hotel is an extremely busy business that has been refurbished to high modern standards.
“The business is only for sale due to our client’s desire to start a family, and there is huge scope for expansion given that the hotel currently only trades for seven months of the year – although the public bar is open all year round and has good support from the locals.”
The Melvich Hotel is on the market with a price tag of offers over ÂŁ599,995 for the freehold interest.
