World beer wins for Scots

TWO Scottish ales have triumphed on the world beer stage.

Isle of Arran Brewery’s Arran Dark was named Best Brown Ale and Traditional Scottish Ales’ Double Espresso was Best Flavoured Beer in the World Beer Awards.
The team at Arran, which will soon launch a share issue to raise funds for investment (Scots pubs invited to share Arran vision), were said to be “over the moon” with the victory.
Run by Paragraph Publishing, the annual event aims to taste, select, award and promote the best beers (in bottles and cans) from around the world.
Regional style heats are held in Asia, Europe and the Americas, with the regional winners then going head to head to establish the best in each category. Judging takes place on a blind basis.
