Scotmid posts strong sales

OFF-trade retail group Scotmid has posted “stronger results than anticipated” for the six months to the end of July.

Turnover rose £1.7 million to £211.1m during what it described as an “extremely difficult and challenging period” .
With the double-dip recession and poor summer weather impacting on its performance, the co-op said its operating profit dropped £400,000 to £2.2m for the 26 weeks to July 28; underlying trading profits were “in line” with 2011.
