Olympic boost for pub giant

STRONG trade during this summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games is credited with boosting sales across JD Wetherspoon’s pubs.

The firm posted an 8.4% increase in like-for-like sales in the six weeks to September 9, with total sales up 12.8% in the period. The figures came as it posted preliminary results for the 53 weeks to July 29 showing an 8.4% rise in pre-tax profits to £7.2 million and a 3.2% increase in like-for-like sales.
