WHISKIES from more than 20 distilleries will go head to head in a ‘people’s tasting’ at an event in the west Highlands later this month.

Taking place in the grounds of Inveraray Castle, Argyll, on September 15 and 16, the Best of the West Festival aims to showcase food, drink, crafts, music and entertainment from the west of Scotland.
The “light-hearted” whisky tasting will feature 22 west of Scotland distillers. Other food and drink producers attending the two-day event, which is now in its second year, include Food from Argyll, Inverawe Smokehouse, Loch Fyne Oysters and Fyne Ales.
A total of 15 bands have been booked to play at the festival, including headline acts the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and Skerryvore.
Mike Story, of Argyll and the Isles Tourism, said: “This is a fantastic event which will showcase the very best of what our area does so well, combining great music with world-class food and drink and some of the best outdoor activities, all set in the grounds of the historic Inveraray Castle.”
