Shock as Pernod boss dies suddenly

PATRICK Ricard, chief executive and chairman of global drinks giant Pernod Ricard, has died aged 67.

A joint statement issued by the Ricard family, the company’s board of directors and general management said Ricard passed away suddenly on Friday, August 17.
His father, Paul Ricard, founded the Ricard company in 1932, going on to merge with rival drinks firm Pernod in 1975.
Pernod Ricard is the owner of Paisley-based distiller Chivas Brothers, whose brands include Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s and Glenlivet. It also owns Jacob’s Creek wine, Absolut vodka and Beefeater gin.
