Nurturing new pub talent

ONE of the country’s biggest pubcos is bidding to guide new leaseholders through the early stages of pub ownership.

The new mentoring scheme by S&NPC aims to build on the company’s week-long induction course, Innside Knowledge.
The programme is free of charge and includes a one-to-one business review with an Innside Knowledge trainer as well as training on beer quality delivered in-house. A new guide on how to relaunch a pub business is also being launched.
The mentoring scheme, which provides tailored support for the first three months, is the latest move by S&NPC to help lessees get their businesses off to a sound start: packages covering business planning, stocktaking and accountancy have already been launched in the past year.
Head of business support Chris Sladen said: “Feedback from lessees in the trial was extremely positive with our trainers able to help them on a whole range of issues. The sessions also reinforce the importance of taking time out to manage the business, which is a key message of our Innside Knowledge induction course.”
