AN Isle of Mull hotel offering prospective new owners the chance to extend the business to a year-round operation is up for sale.
Located on the south of the island, overlooking Ardalanish Bay to the islands of Jura, Colonsay and Islay, Ardachy House is currently run on a seasonal basis by Cathy Jones and Margaret Walker, who have owned the property for the last ten years.
Originally a mid-19th century croft, the building was extended and modernised in 1989 and has since been run as a guest house and small hotel.
Ardachy House, which is a 45-minute drive from the main ferry port at Craignure, has eight letting bedrooms, a one-bedroom self-catering apartment and a residents’ lounge and dining room; there’s also four-bedroom owner’s accommodation.
Ardachy House is located in a thriving community and offers an amazing rural lifestyle.
The current owners said they have reluctantly decided to sell as Margaret is approaching retirement age.
“It will be a wrench to leave Ardachy House as it has given us a wonderful lifestyle and home,” she said.
“It has also provided a great standard of living and good work/life balance. We will miss looking out of our conservatory window and watching the dolphins playing and basking sharks feeding in the bay.
“We are now able to run the business quite casually but new owners could extend the season and develop the already profitable specialist groups business and there is potential to substantially increase turnover.”
David Reid of Knight Frank, which is marketing Ardachy House, agreed.
“Cathy and Margaret have run Ardachy House successfully as a small hotel only trading part of the year and to suit their own needs,” he said.
