GREEN fingered members of Scottish & Newcastle Pub Company’s property team got their hands dirty last month when they stepped in to help Scotland’s main licensed trade charity.
Ken McGown, new president of The Ben and operations and sales director at S&NPC, enlisted the help of his colleagues to clear the gardens at the 18 retirement cottages owned and maintained by the charity for beneficiaries in Pitlochry.
The pubco’s head of property, Andrew Cannons, and ten colleagues spent a day working in the gardens and demolishing and removing an old shed, as well as spending time chatting with the pensioners.
“It’s important to have an ongoing programme of preventative property maintenance,” McGown said.
“The gardens needed some serious physical labour and it was a great help for the pensioners on the estate to have it done.”
