THE Royal Hotel in Campbeltown has relaunched following a root and branch refurbishment by its US owner.

The 23-bedroom hotel, which overlooks the harbour, is part of the £19.3 million Village at Machrihanish Dunes development.
US-based Southworth Development bought the Royal Hotel, along with the 22-bedroom Ugadale Hotel in Machrihanish and Machrihanish Dunes Golf Course in 2008. It recently revamped the Ugadale and built self-catering cottages as part of the development.
David Southworth, whose firm has created a number of hotel, golf and residential developments across the US and Bahamas, said the revamp of the Royal Hotel sought to combine the original features of the property with a contemporary design.
“The Royal Hotel holds a special place in Campbeltown history,” he said.
“For many, it serves as a celebrated icon where families and friends once celebrated grand occasions.
“For us, it begins another chapter in our pursuit to make Campbeltown and Machrihanish a world-class destination.”
