All change in south west

THE new owners of a Dumfries-shire hotel are refurbishing the property ahead of the summer season.

Dolf Sweerts de Landas Wyborgh and his family, who have lived in the area for the past decade and own a small estate in Tynron, acquired the Buccleuch & Queensberry Hotel in the neighboring village of Thornhill for an undisclosed sum close to the asking price of £395,000. Two adjoining cottages were also acquired for an undisclosed sum.

The hotel, which was sold by Naomi Spencer who is retiring from the trade, has 12 letting bedrooms, a restaurant, bar and function room.
“The new owners’ plans for the refurbishment of the Buccleuch & Queensberry Hotel will undoubtedly create an additional appeal and will be an asset in the village of Thornhill,” said Colliers International’s Alistair Letham.
