NATIONWIDE retail chain The Whisky Shop has listed Swedish whisky Mackmyra in all 20 of its shops.
The retailer has announced that it will stock three Mackmyra expressions.
Mackmyra The 1st Edition will be stocked in all 20 stores, while Mackmyra Special: 03 and Mackmyra Special: 04 will be available in the biggest stores, as well as through the company’s online shop.
The Mackmyra distillery was opened in 1999 and launched its 1st Edition expression in 2008.
The distiller now claims the expression is the leader within its own market segment in Sweden. It was also awarded a Gold at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) 2011 and described by reviewer John Hansell as “youthful, but not immature” and “intriguing”.
“Our whisky has been in the UK for a few years, but mainly in a number of small whisky shops,” said Lisa Collins, country manager UK at Mackmyra.
“Now that The Whisky Shop has decided to stock our whisky, we’ll be reaching a far greater number of British whisky enthusiasts.”
The Whisky Shop has a number of stores across Scotland, including shops in Glasgow, Inverness, Callandar, Fort William and three in Edinburgh (Victoria Street, Princes Mall and Ocean Terminal respectively).
