DRINKS distributor KC Brands has ceased operations after losing the deal to supply Tequila Rose, the strawberry cream liqueur owned by McCormick Distilling Co of the US.
Chief executive Mark Todd said the decision to close the 11 year old business was “triggered by the sudden and unexpected loss of the Tequila Rose business”. The end of KC leaves speciality spirit Fisk and Cambodian beer Kingdom also looking for new UK distributors.
Tequila Rose, which has an ABV of 15% and comes in various pack formats, will now be distributed by Halewood International, owner of Crabbie’s Ginger Beer and Lambrini.
Halewood said the brand sells around 300,000 cases in 40 countries each year.
