MORE than four in five (82%)consumers will stay in a pub and buy another drink if they like the music that’s playing.
New research by MusicWorks also found that 84% of consumers would return to a bar that played music, while 66% of respondents said they would leave their local if it stopped playing music. The research was commissioned by PPL and PRS for Music, the two bodies responsible for granting licences for the use of recorded music in businesses.
“Music is as important to a bar as the drinks served and the lighting used,” said a PPL spokeswoman said.
“Not only is it fundamental in creating the right atmosphere but it is also a fantastically powerful and valuable business tool. It can increase footfall, motivate staff and encourage return visits.”
