THERE will be pressure on the hospitality industry to innovate this year, as consumer confidence worsens.
That’s the warning from business consultancy Horizons, which predicts that 2012 will be the sector’s toughest year yet.
Managing director Peter Backman said the tough market will force operators to innovate.
“The businesses that don’t embrace change are those that will suffer this year, but outlets that adapt to the demands of the new consumer by offering something different, focusing on good quality for a reasonable price, are those that will survive”, he said.
