MINIMUM pricing received a further boost last week when the University of Sheffield published an updated report on the impact the legislation would have.
The new research claims the much-mooted 45p a unit would reduce alcohol consumption by 3.5%, rising to 6% when combined with a ban on off-trade discounts. At 50p per unit (plus a total discount ban), consumption would drop 7.8%, rising to 12.5% at 60p and 17.9% at 70p.
