Scots chef keeps it in the family

A CELEBRATED young Scottish chef has opened his first restaurant in Glasgow’s west end.

La Famiglia on Cleveden Road was last week launched by 22 year old Nico Simeone, who most recently worked at the Michelin star Number One restaurant in Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel. Simeone, who was named Young Seafood Chef of the Year in 2012, said the 44-cover restaurant offers a “relaxed and cosy” atmosphere.
The menu is designed to offer Italian cuisine at affordable prices, and includes seafood dishes and contemporary takes on Italian classics. “Traditionally, Italian restaurants are renowned for classic, rustic dishes, and without moving away from that entirely, the menu in La Famiglia offers a modern and contemporary twist, right down to the way the dishes are plated and served to customers,” Simeone said.
