THE High Court will next month consider how the ‘Murphy’ ruling on foreign decoders will apply to UK law.
In October European law chiefs ruled that preventing the use of foreign decoders to show Premier League matches was “contrary to the freedom to provide services”. The European Court was asked to clarify the case of Portsmouth licensee Karen Murphy, who was prosecuted for using a Greek system to show games.
The High Court will consider Murphy’s case on February 24.
