CHARAN Gill, the man who built the Ashoka restaurant chain, and Petra Wetzel, owner of Glasgow’s West bar and brewery, have been lined up to share their experience at a series of free business events, seminars and workshops.
The trade figures are among a host of entrepreneurs, industry experts and academics set to feature in this year’s Glasgow for Business Week, taking place in a range of venues from November 7-11.
The five-day event aims to provide advice for people running or looking to establish businesses in the city.
And one of the big attractions is likely to be Glasgow’s Got Business Talent – a competition giving local entrepreneurs the chance to pitch ideas and win support for their business to the tune of £10,000.
Gill, is due to speak at the first semi-final at the Grand Central Hotel on November 7, while Wetzel has been confirmed as a judge for the final at Arta on November 11.
Organisations behind the event say supporting businesses is the key to addressing the ‘social, economic and environmental challenges which the city faces’.
“Despite the challenging times we face there’s still a lot for businesses to be positive about,” said Robert Andrew of the city council’s Development & Regeneration Services.
