AN Islay hotel with an award-winning whisky bar has changed hands.

The Lochside Hotel in Bowmore was sold for an undisclosed sum from an asking price of £750,000 to Angus Mackinnon, who has business and family connections to the island.
The hotel’s collection of more than 270 whiskies earned it a gold award and a Scotch Whisky Bar of the World title from Whisky Magazine.
Bell Ingram’s Euan MacCrimmon said the sale of the ten-bedroom Lochside Hotel topped off a successful first year in the licensed and leisure property sector for the agent.
“Bell Ingram has an impressive reputation in the high quality rural and residential markets and it’s important for us as a company to widen our expertise by expanding into new sectors, such as licensed and leisure,” he said.
“The sale of the Lochside Hotel is an example that deals can still be achieved in current difficult market conditions with targeted marketing and appropriately priced properties.”
