THE company that purchased The Gables Hotel in Gretna last year is said to have spent ÂŁ150,000 refurbishing the hotel.
Lonsdale Hotels, which also owns the Ellerthwaite Lodge in Windermere, bought The Gables last April after the previous owner went into administration. It has since focused on re-establishing the business as a wedding venue as well as a high quality hotel and restaurant.
Several bedrooms, communal areas and the bar have been refurbished, while the focus on weddings has also seen the construction of a new apartment-style suite, complete with double whirlpool bath.
“We are absolutely delighted with the progress we have made at The Gables Hotel,” said Alastair Rushton, managing director and proprietor of Lonsdale Hotels. “It is great credit to the team there, who have worked so hard over the past year. “Together, we have created a very special venue that offers a relaxing atmosphere and fantastic service. We have invested in the hotel and in the staff and that investment will continue as we keep growing and developing The Gables into one of the finest hotels in the south of Scotland.”
The Gables Hotel has 31 bedrooms and suites and four function suites that can cater for groups of ten to 110. Its owners are aiming to build a presence in the conference and meetings market.
