GUEST houses in Glasgow remain in high demand following the sale of a city centre property which is said to have attracted strong interest
Christie & Co’s Graeme Smith said now might be the time for operators considering selling similar businesses to put them on the market. It comes after the property agent sold the 18-bedroom Hampton Court Hotel in Renfrew Street, close to Glasgow School of Art, for an undisclosed sum from its asking price of £750,000. “Hampton Court Hotel attracted lots of interest from both private individuals and other operators interested in a business that is trading extremely well and producing good profits,” said Smith. “Even during these challenging market conditions, properties of this nature are always going to attract high levels of interest. As there can only ever be one buyer, we now have a number of disappointed potential buyers looking to get into this bustling sector. As a result, we would urge anyone thinking about marketing a business of this nature to get in touch.”
