The criteria outlined in the 2017 SLTN Awards entry brochure and on this website give further guidance to the main areas of consideration in each category. Printed brochures are available from SLTN, Suites 1&2, The Albus, 110 Brook Street, G40 3AP; by calling 0141 567 6041; or by emailing: You can also browse the brochure online here.

In all cases entries are enhanced by the inclusion of supporting material such as photographs, menus and drinks lists, examples of advertising and promotional material, details of accolades already attained, training commendations, personal statements in the categories where individuals – rather than premises – are being awarded, etc.
Supporting material may be emailed to:

In each category, judges will be appointed by SLTN and the category sponsor and may include: representatives of SLTN; representatives of the sponsoring company; expert judges from fields like marketing, foodservice and business development; and experienced and well-regarded professional licensees in Scotland, including former SLTN Award winners.

Judging will take place in a number of stages. Firstly the original entries will be considered based on the completed entry form and supporting material supplied in relation to category. A shortlist will be drawn up and judges will visit each of these shortlisted entrants. With the exception of the Industry Achievement and Entrepreneur categories, where there is a single winner, the judges will choose a maximum of three finalists in each category who will attend the 2017 SLTN Awards at The Hilton, William Street, Glasgow on November 2, 2017 when the winner and highly commended finalists are announced.

The judges’ decision is final and there is no cash alternative to the prizes.

The winner will receive the 2017 SLTN Award trophy, and individual category sponsors may supply an additional prize.

The winner and the highly commended finalists will receive certificates and feature in 2018 SLTN Awards public relations material, including a press release sent to appropriate local, national and UK-wide media.

Any amendment to these rules and regulations will be publicised in SLTN.

Entries or nominations must be received by Friday May 19, 2017
