Distilling a new city spirit

McGin is said to pay tribute to Glasgow

A GLASGOW operator is now making drinks as well as serving them after the release of her own gin.

Celeste McGinn, owner of three bars on the city’s Hope Street, collaborated with The Glasgow Distillery Company to create McGin, a 42% ABV spirit.

Distilled with eight botanicals, including juniper, rosehip, lemon peel and orange peel, the gin is described as smooth and subtle with citrus notes.

McGinn said: “I wanted a gin that represented the city, doesn’t take itself too seriously yet is still a premium product.

“The selling point is that we’re from Glasgow, everything about the gin is from Glasgow – from distilling to labelling.”
