A new visit from an old house

The spirit was produced in Glenmorangie’s former still house, which shut in 1989

WHISKY fans and collectors will have a chance to step into the past with the release of some rare spirit from Glenmorangie’s former still house.

The distillery’s original still house was closed in 1989, when one of the warehouses was converted into the still house that continues to function today.

Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1989 contains some of the last spirit to emerge from the former still house, which has been finished in casks that previously contained Côte-Rôtie wine.

Glenmorangie director of distilling, Dr Bill Lumsden, described it as “extraordinarily varied for a whisky of such age”.

The 43% ABV whisky is priced at £550 a bottle.
